See China through photographer’s eyes as you encounter countless and varied scenes, both rural and urban, natural and manmade. The workshop begins in China’s capital, Beijing, where we will see the pinnacle of Chinese history and architecture at the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, the Great Panda, and the Great Wall, which will provide countless photographic opportunities as you are amazed by its size and scale. From Beijing, we travel to the south of China. The scenery there is famous for its jagged mountains covered with rice terraces, and fishing villages along rivers lined with karst mountains.

After exploring this area, we will fly to Shanghai, the “Paris of the East” and easily the most amazing city you will ever see. We will photograph city scenes, architecture, and a stunning skyline. We will visit an imperial Chinese garden in the ancient part of the city as well as the French quarter from Shanghai’s days as a “foreign” city. We then fly to the Huangshan Mountains, a short distance by air from Shanghai, and you will immediately recognize these mountains as the source of Chinese landscape paintings. The area is known for its scenery, sunsets, and jutting granite peaks with pine trees. There are frequent views of clouds touching the mountainsides, nestled between peaks.
