Lonnie is not actively leading
our trips at this point but
Lonnie travels throughout western North America applying his background and love for the outdoor world to focus most of his work on nature itself. His images are carefully composed works of art with the final goal of bringing the excitement felt by the photographer to the viewer. The vitality of the visual experience and the intense emotions of the scene are captured on film in many forms, from grand vistas to isolated subjects to impressionistic renditions, with an effort to make images of often-seen locales under different circumstances than the ordinary or from a new perspective. Lonnie hopes his images have an impact on how you see the natural world. Lonnie has over thirty years of photographic experience. He is special travel editor for Nature Photographer, a national nature photography magazine produced for nature photographers and nature enthusiasts, as well as a photographer and writer for various other publications, including Outdoor Photographer, Outdoor and Nature Photography and Balian's Photoworld. The fine art images that Lonnie makes are available over the Internet (please see www.lonniebrockphoto.com), and in galleries, museums, and fine art shows in the western United States. Lonnie's images were featured in a one-man forty image exhibit at Kodak's Photo Salon in Tokyo on March 15-28, 2000 (see http://www.kodak.co.jp/KPD/photoSalon/4p155200.shtml) and in a one-man show, A Vision of America's West, at the Packinghouse Gallery in Largo, Florida, from late February to mid April 2004. Stock images are also available at Lonnie Brock Photography and from ImageStockhouse in the U.S. and MegaPress in Japan. Lonnie is a co-founder of The Nature Workshops and has been teaching for more than thirty years. He is a member of Canon’s Professional Services Group, and further promotes the natural world and photographic art through his memberships in the Professional Photographers of America, North America Nature Photography Association, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Scottsdale Center for the Arts, Sonoran Arts League, Sierra Club, National Geographic Society, the Nature Conservancy, and the National Wildlife Federation. Lonnie works primarily in 35mm (both film and digital capture) and medium format color photography. The locations at which Lonnie leads workshops are all places he has been visiting for his photography for several years and sites that he is intimately familiar with. His teaching style is organized and his groups will work hard in the field, often catching the wonderful light of both sunrise and sunset on the same days. Making images and improving the participants' ability to make dramatic images will take priority over everything else in Lonnie's workshops.
