If you love to photograph waterfalls, then Oregon in May is one of the best places to do it.
The Columbia Gorge is a Mecca for waterfall lovers. There are falls right beside the road and there are falls that require short walks, and there are falls that require longer hikes.
In other words, there are a lot of waterfalls.

Silver Falls State Park contains ten waterfalls, all easily accessible. None of the hikes are long or strenuous and the falls are spectacular.

Besides the waterfalls, there will be a ton of spring forest wildflowers to photograph. The Columbia Gorge is unique in that you can find flowers that are normally at much higher elevations.
Some hiking may be involved, though the longest hike is likely to be only 5 miles round trip on a moderate trail.

Other nearby areas of interest include the wineries of the Willamette Valley.
