Roger has been seriously involved in photographic pursuits for the past 20 years. He has a Bachelors of Arts in photography from Southern Illinois University and works around the St. Louis area doing freelance photography work from commercial to sports to model portfolios, but his passion is his fine art photography of wildlife and nature that he sells at fine art festivals nationwide and over the Internet (see www.devorephoto.com). He produces both color and black and white images with his unique vision and perspective using a variety of camera systems to accomplish his fine art photography, from 35mm (both film and digital) to medium format, to panoramic, to 4x5 large format, choosing the best system to accomplish his photographic goals. He is totally involved in the entire image making process from visualization in the camera to processing the film to printing the images in his dark room. Roger is also a co-founder of The Nature Workshops offering photographic instruction in some of the most beautiful natural scenic areas of North America. He recently completed a one man show at the Mitchell Museum in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, spotlighting the Cache River Natural Areas of Southern Illinois. His publishing credits include Nature Photographer Magazine, Birder’s World Magazine, the cover of International Photography Magazine, Best of Photography Annual, and several other magazines and newspapers nationally. Roger is also listed in "Who’s Who in American Photography" and his experience includes significant photojournalism work. He is an active member of North America Nature Photography Association. The locations at which Roger leads workshops are all places he has been visiting for his photography for several years and sites that he is intimately familiar with, or he will be accompanied by a local outfitter. His teaching style is casual and his groups will work hard in the field, often catching the wonderful light of both sunrise and sunset on the same days. Roger has been helping aspiring photographers make better images and improve their photographic skills for nearly ten years.
