Spring in the
Smokies Typical Workshop Schedule Fees and What Is Included Payment, Discounts, Cancellation, Refund Policies What to Bring Return to Schedule of Offerings Return to Richard Day Bio Page
Few places on earth match the splendor of spring in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With its spectacular scenery, panoramic overlooks, waterfalls, wildlife and wildflowers, the Smokies are a photographer’s wonderland. We’ve timed this workshop for peak wildflower bloom and when spring rains should provide exquisite waterfall and stream shots. We’ll get up early to be on location for glorious sunrise images –and end the day in spots known for spectacular sunsets. In between will be drives to sites such as Cades Cove with its meandering road through historic farmsteads, grist mill, scenic areas, and wildlife. The Cove provides protected habitat for white-tailed deer, black bears, and wild turkey frequently observed along the drive. Stops along Little River Road and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail will offer numerous opportunities to photograph cascading mountain streams beneath lush forests carpeted with wildflowers.
